Monday Feature: Custom Targets and Our New Excel Script

March 9, 2026

Hi everyone,

Welcome to the next installment of Monday Features at Mapping Clarity. This update walks through Custom Targets and launches the new Excel script.

With Custom Targets, you have three setup options: List + Definitions, List, or Pattern. In this demonstration, List + Definitions is used to upload a custom list of codes alongside their definitions.

After uploading a custom definition into Mapping Clarity, the target is added to a pipeline. Pipelines let you include multiple targets as part of a single processing job.

The sample data is split into two batches:

  1. The training batch contains samples pre-filled with the correct answers. Mapping Clarity uses this to learn for future runs.
  2. The processing batch contains the remaining 800 rows. Mapping Clarity uses the uploaded definitions and the training samples to categorize the data.

In the demonstration, the 800 rows are mapped in about 40 seconds.

Mapping Clarity is designed to avoid being a black box. Returned results include a confidence score and a reason, so you can understand why each row was categorized the way it was.

When corrections are needed, the new Excel script lets you adjust mappings and send those adjustments back into Mapping Clarity. The system can then learn from corrections for future processing.

Download the Excel script from Mapping Clarity scripts on GitHub.
